Biography
Born in Nursia, Italy, Benedict left his studies in Rome to live as a hermit. His holiness attracted followers, leading him to establish monasteries and write his famous Rule. The Rule of St. Benedict became the foundation of Western monasticism, emphasizing prayer, work, and community life under the motto Ora et Labora.
